Meppadi Tragedy Is Shocking; Pinarayi Vijayan Backs Government's Relief Efforts

Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan said the disaster at Meppadi in Wayanad is deeply tragic and shocking. He called for immediate financial assistance to the families of those killed in the landslide, and demanded that the government ensure free expert medical treatment and financial support for the injured.

He said this is the time for rescue operations to continue and emergency medical aid to be made available without delay. Urgent steps must be taken to extricate everyone still trapped under the debris. He expressed support for the activities of the government and the disaster management department.

He also said there must be a serious inquiry into whether those responsible had been negligent or criminally careless in taking the emergency measures that were necessary in connection with this disaster.
