Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed the entire state administration to be fully mobilised in response to the fireworks explosion at Mundathikode, Thrissur, and has expressed condolences to the families of the six persons reported dead so far.
The Chief Minister spoke with the Chief Secretary and issued immediate directives to ensure that all necessary medical assistance reaches the injured without delay. He said specialist doctors from hospitals outside Kerala would be called in if required to treat those with severe burns. A dedicated monitoring mechanism has been put in place to oversee relief and rescue operations.
"All steps needed for rescue operations are being taken. Police, Fire and Rescue, and Health Department resources are being coordinated alongside the Revenue and Disaster Management departments in a unified response," the Chief Minister said.
The CM also confirmed that operations are being actively monitored at the highest level, and that no effort will be spared to ensure the best possible treatment for the survivors. Several of those hospitalised remain in critical condition, and authorities have not ruled out a further rise in the death toll.
