Pinarayi Vijayan Condoles Demise of R. Nallakannu

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled the demise of freedom fighter and former CPI State Secretary R. Nallakannu. He posted on X: "He stood tall as the leader of the masses. Com. RNK left a glorious legacy, inspiring us to follow the path of organised struggles to realise a better future. His memories will guide us forward."

The body is being kept in public view at the CPI office in T. Nagar. Many from the Tamil film industry, including Rajinikanth and Vijay, have paid their last respects to Nallakannu. According to his wishes, the body will be donated to Madras Medical College for study. His late wife was Ranjitham Ammal, and he is survived by two children.

Nallakannu passed away yesterday morning at 1:55. He had been under treatment at Chennai Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital since February 1. For a long time, he served as CPI Tamil Nadu State Secretary. He also served as a CPI National Executive member and as Chairman of the Central Control Commission.

CPI(M) General Secretary M. A. Baby said that his life was dedicated to workers, farmers, agricultural labourers, and the marginalised. CPI(M) State Secretary M. V. Govindan said that his death is a huge loss to the communist movement and to the entire country.
