Angamaly–Sabarimala Rail Project Land Acquisition to Begin Soon

New Delhi: The long-awaited Angamaly–Sabarimala railway line is set to become a reality soon, according to Kerala's Minister for Railways and Sports, V Abdurahiman. Speaking on the matter, the minister said that an expert team from the Indian Railways will visit Kerala in July to initiate proceedings related to land acquisition for the project.

The decision was made during a meeting held in New Delhi with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The Kerala delegation was led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and included Minister V Abdurahiman and Kerala’s Special Representative in Delhi, K V Thomas.
The minister expressed hope that the long-pending issues of hundreds of families affected by the proposed land acquisition would be addressed through this process. The government aims to complete the railway line at the earliest and is giving top priority to the Angamaly–Sabarimala project.
Additionally, the state has also requested the Centre to expedite the development of the third and fourth railway lines across key routes in Kerala. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan personally urged the Union Railway Minister to fast-track the related procedures.
Minister Abdurahiman said that the implementation of a project long cherished by the people of Kerala is a matter of pride for the state government.
