POCSO Case Filed Against Congress Worker Following Sexual Assault Attempt Against Minor at UDF Event in Tharur Constituency

Palakkad: A POCSO case has been registered against a Congress worker from Kottayi panchayat following the alleged sexual assault of a minor boy who attended a UDF public meeting held in connection with the Tharur constituency campaign.
The Kottayi police filed the case against the Congress leader from Kannachipparambu Vishwakarma Nagar in Kottayi panchayat.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday evening at around 7 pm during a reception and concluding public meeting of the UDF candidate at Kottayi Rajiv Laksham Unnathi. Biryani was being distributed to attendees at the event when the alleged assault took place. Upon learning of the incident, the child's father confronted Congress workers present at the venue, leading to a heated altercation, following which a formal police complaint was lodged.
The minor, in his statement to police, said the accused was approximately 40 years of age but that he was unable to identify him by name. Police are currently examining photographs and video footage from the event in order to identify the suspect. Kottayi police have stated that further action will be initiated once the accused is identified.
