Palakkad: On September 3, 2025, Kerala Police conducted a raid at the residence of an RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) cadre in Palakkad, seizing a large cache of explosives. The operation, which began around 9:00 AM, resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old Suresh Kumar, a full-time RSS leader.
Along with Suresh Kumar, two others — Naushad (37), a resident of Perungara Poochingal House, and Fazil alias "Pachu" (27), from Poolakkad Pallikkal in Noorani — were also taken into police custody in connection with the case.
During the raid, police recovered 13 country-made explosives, 24 detonators, and a dynamo box from Suresh Kumar’s residence. Police sources noted that the recovered items has striking similarities to explosives found earlier on August 20 in the compound of an RSS-controlled school in Vadakkanthara. That incident left three individuals, including a child, injured.
Police also revealed that Suresh Kumar, who has a background in well construction and rock blasting, is experienced in handling explosives. According to police sources, he procured detonators from suppliers who usually deal with quarrying operations.
The other two individuals arrested — Naushad and Fazil — reportedly have multiple criminal cases pending against them, including charges related to narcotics and illegal arms possession. The Bomb Squad has safely transported the seized materials to a secure location. All three accused are expected to be presented before the court on Thursday.
A case has been registered against Suresh Kumar for unlawful possession of explosives. Police officials stated that additional charges may be filed following further interrogation.
