Aroor Flyover Accident a Serious Incident; Govt Asked for Immediate Intervention of NHAI: Minister Riyas

Kozhikode: On Thursday, PWD Minister P A Muhammad Riyas told media that the accidental death of a pickup driver following the collapse of girder is indeed a serious incident.
The minister informed media that the National Highways authority of India was immediately informed about the incident. He added that the government asked NHAI to for their immediate intervention in this matter.
“The lapses that led to the tragedy must be identified, and steps must be taken to ensure such incidents are not repeated,” Minister told the media.
The accident occurred around 3 a.m. on Thursday when a girder used for the under-construction flyover fell onto a moving pickup van. The driver, Rajesh, a native of Pallippad in Harippad, died on the spot. The girder, weighing around 8,000 kilograms, crashed completely, while another one was left in a tilted position.
