Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government, through NORKA Roots, has enrolled more than 54,000 expatriate families in its health and accident insurance scheme, Norka Care, as of 5 PM today. Most enrollments are family-based, covering an estimated 200,000 individuals.

Eligible Keralites holding a valid NORKA Pravasis ID, Student ID, or NRK ID card can enroll until October 30. Registration is available via the official NORKA Roots website, the Norka Care mobile app, and over 3,000 Akshaya centers across the state.

Mass enrollment drives are also conducted through NORKA-recognized expatriate organisations, and special registration facilities are arranged for companies employing Keralites abroad. Registration camps are being held in major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai, led by NORKA NR Development offices and global expatriate organizations.

The Norka Care plan provides coverage for a family (husband, wife, and two children under 25 years) at Rs. 13,411, which includes Rs. 5 lakh health insurance and Rs. 10 lakh group personal accident insurance. Additional children under 25 can be added for Rs. 4,130 each. Individual coverage for ages 18–70 is available for Rs. 8,101. Insurance protection begins on November 1, coinciding with Kerala’s birthday.

The scheme offers cashless treatment at over 500 hospitals in Kerala and approximately 18,000 hospitals statewide. To assist applicants, NORKA Roots has set up a help center at its headquarters, providing online support via video conferencing on working days from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM until October 30. Registration via video call can be accessed through https://id.norkaroots.kerala.gov.in/
