Naval Exercise Displays Today in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: As part of Navy Day celebrations, spectacular naval exercises will be held on Wednesday at Shankhumukham Beach, with President Droupadi Murmu as the chief guest. The displays will highlight the Navy’s strength, featuring over 40 vessels, including 19 major warships, submarines, and 32 support ships. The aircraft carrier Vikrant, built in Kochi, will also be part of the showcase.

The programme will include live firing and defensive manoeuvres by fighter aircraft, demonstrations from the aircraft carrier, and a performance by Mig-29 fighter jets, known as the Black Panthers. The Navy will also demonstrate sea rescue operations for people in distress.


Entry will be allowed for 9,000 pass holders, while approximately one lakh spectators along the coastline can watch the exercises. President Murmu is scheduled to arrive at Thiruvananthapuram Airport at 4:10 pm. After reviewing the Guard of Honour at 4:30 pm, she will proceed to a specially prepared stage at Shankhumukham at 5:13 pm, where the exercises will begin. She is expected to leave for Lok Bhavan at 6:57 pm.


Air traffic in the area will be regulated during the event. On Thursday morning at 9:45 am, the President will depart for Delhi.
