UDF Taking Stand in Support of Predators, Says CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan

Kannur: CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan has said that it is becoming increasingly evident with each passing day that the UDF is taking a stand in support of the predators. Their positions on various issues clearly reveal this tendency, he said.
Govindan pointed out that as more details emerge about the harassment faced by the survivors and the complaints they raised, senior UDF leaders, including the KPCC President, have stepped in to validate and defend the accused. He added that when the second complaint surfaced against Rahul Mamkootathil, UDF leaders went so far as to claim that it was made with deliberate intent.
“It was the KPCC President himself who first presented such an allegation before the police. And now he has stepped aside and adopted a weak stance aimed at defending Mamkootathil,” Govindan said.
Referring to the actress attack case, Govindan stated that even the UDF convener had taken a harsh position against the survivor. They openly declared support for the accused, ridiculed the government for deciding to file an appeal, and even questioned whether the government had anything else to do.
Govindan added that although UDF leaders attempted to make corrections after widespread criticism, it has now become clear that even those corrections were insincere and inadequate.
