M V Govindan Expresses Grief Over Meppadi Landslide Deaths, Urges Swift Rescue and Relief

Thiruvananthapuram: M V Govindan has expressed grief over the deaths of workers in the landslide at the tunnel construction site at Kalladi in Meppadi, Wayanad, describing the incident as a shocking and tragic disaster.
In a statement, he conveyed his condolences to the families of the workers who lost their lives in the accident.
He said CPI(M) workers would join the rescue operations being carried out under the leadership of government agencies and the disaster management authorities and provide all necessary assistance. He also appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to the ongoing rescue efforts.
The CPI(M) leader said he understood that government agencies were working to rescue those trapped under the debris and urged that all possible steps be taken on an urgent basis to bring them to safety.
He also called on the government to ensure immediate medical treatment for those injured in the incident and provide urgent financial assistance to the families of the deceased as well as those who sustained injuries.
