Fisherman’s Body Found After Falling Into Muthalapozhi Backwater

Thiruvananthapuram: The body of a fisherman who fell into the backwater from a fishing boat at Muthalapozhi has been found. The deceased has been identified as Thomas, also known as Praveen, 42, of Puthenmann Vadayil House in Anjuthengu. Fishermen who had gone out for fishing in the morning found the body. Thomas's body has been shifted to the Chirayinkeezhu Taluk Hospital.

Thomas fell into the backwater while he was staying near the boat's engine. He fell from the boat at around 5.30 pm on Monday. The accident occurred after the boat entered the backwater through the estuary with the fish, unloaded the catch at the Thazhampally auction hall and was moored in the backwater. Thomas was operating the boat.

A search and rescue operation was immediately launched using nets, but he could not be found. Coastal Police and Marine Enforcement personnel also reached the spot.

Meanwhile, the search continues for Shijin, a native of Anjuthengu, who went missing after another accident at Muthalapozhi.
