Thiruvananthapuram: Senior leader Mullappally Ramachandran launched strong criticism against UDF leaders over the expansion of the UDF alliance. He said the UDF should not be treated like a roadside shelter and should not turn into a last refuge for opportunists. Mullappally was speaking after attending a memorial programme for K Karunakaran.

He said that PV Anvar, who is joining the front, should act with greater discipline and decorum. Discipline must be maintained within the alliance, and public statements are not beneficial. He added that it is difficult to accept a situation where everyone demands an MLA position. “Discussions have only begun; they have not concluded yet. Only those who agree with the positions of the United Democratic Front should be included,” he said. Mullappally also stated that he was not aware of Vishnupuram Chandrasekharan’s party, expressing his disagreement with the expansion of the UDF.

He further remarked that he had faced a lot of ingratitude in his political life. “Those whom we help often turn against us from outside. Everyone should remember that when power is lost, no one will stand by you,” he added.
