“More Than a Friend”: Mohanlal Mourns Death of Confident Group Chairman C J Roy

Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Mohanlal has expressed deep condolences over the demise of prominent Businessman and Confident Group Chairman Dr. C J Roy. In a social media post, Mohanlal said Roy’s death feels unreal and deeply painful and described him as someone far more than just a friend, but a person very dear to him. Roy had bankrolled several of Mohanlal's films in the past.

“The loss of my dear friend C J Roy feels unreal and deeply painful. My heart goes out to his family in this time of immense grief. He was more than a friend, he will always be remembered with love and warmth,” Mohanlal wrote in his social media post.

Bengaluru based malayali entreprenur C J Roy, who is also a film producer died by suicide on Friday night at his Company Headquarters in Bengaluru. According to reports, he shot himself in the middle of a raid by Income Tax department at his Bengaluru HQ. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in HSR Layout, but his life could not be saved.

Family members alleged that Roy took the extreme step due to continuous mental harassment by the IT officials. They also claimed that the raid continued even after his death and that documents were taken away.
