Migrant Worker Killed in Wild Elephant Attack in Nilambur

Malappuram: A migrant worker employed at a rubber estate near Nilambur, Kerala, was killed in a wild elephant attack on Thursday, police confirmed. The deceased, identified as Charu Uravon, a rubber tapper from Jharkhand, was working at an estate in Moolepadam.
According to the police, Uravon’s body was discovered around 9 am by other estate workers, who were returning after completing their tapping work. Upon being alerted, police and Forest Department officials arrived at the scene and confirmed that Uravon had been attacked by a wild elephant.
The estate is situated near the Nilambur forest region, where wild elephants are known to occasionally stray into human settlements. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and a case of unnatural death will be registered. Meanwhile, the Forest Department has initiated efforts to track the wild elephant that roams the area.
