Will Remain Among People; Accept the People’s Verdict, Says M B Rajesh

Thrithala: CPI(M) leader M B Rajesh spoke to reporters with composure, saying wins and losses are part of electoral politics and that he does not take the outcome personally.

"I have lost before and won later. I see this only in political terms," he said. Rajesh pointed to five years of unparalleled development in Thrithala, saying no one could erase that record and that he steps aside with pride in having fulfilled the responsibility the constituency entrusted to him.

Acknowledging the overall state-wide trend, he said it would be unrealistic to expect a different outcome in a fiercely contested seat like Thrithala when the broader picture is what it is.

In a characteristically direct remark, he added: "We are Communists. If we lose an election, we don't go into exile. We will be among the people, on the streets, on the front lines of struggle — that is how we have grown."
