Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch has filed a thousand-page chargesheet before the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court in a financial fraud case linked to the blockbuster film Manjummel Boys. Actor Soubin Shahir, his father Babu Shahir, and Shawn Antony are named as accused in the chargesheet.

The case stems from a dispute over profit sharing. The complainant, Hameed of Siraj Valiya Veedu from Aroor, alleges that the accused received money from him on the promise of a 40 percent share of the film's profits, but paid him nothing even after the film became a massive commercial success. The Crime Branch investigated the complaint and has now filed the chargesheet.

Produced under the Parava Films banner by Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir, and Shawn Antony, and directed by Chidambaram, Manjummel Boys released on February 22, 2024. The film, featuring an ensemble cast including Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Deepak Parambol, Jean Paul Lal, Ganapathi, and Balu Varghese, became a runaway hit in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, grossing over ₹200 crore at the box office. It is in the wake of this enormous commercial success that the investor came forward with the fraud allegation, leading to the current chargesheet.
