M A Baby Selected for This Year’s M V R Award for Contribution to Opposition Unity

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby has been selected for this year’s M V R Award in recognition of his contribution to opposition unity in India.

“The non-NDA political parties responded swiftly to the letter M A Baby sent on September 23 seeking opposition unity. It is noteworthy that Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee was the first to respond to his letter. Baby’s letter helped bring parties such as the DMK and Aam Aadmi Party, which are outside the INDIA bloc, closer at the political level.

“The CPI(M) appears to be making special efforts to move forward by taking the Cockroach Janata Party into confidence. The CJP maintains the most communication with the CPI(M). The DYFI and SFI provide the organisational foundation for all the CJP’s agitations,” the trust said in its assessment.

The trust also noted that M A Baby was one of the architects of another significant decision taken at the INDIA bloc meeting held on October 13.
