Thiruvananthapuram: The people of Kerala strongly desire a third consecutive term for the Left Democratic Front (LDF) to realize the vision of a 'New Kerala', said M Swaraj, the LDF candidate from Nilambur. He was addressing a reception organised by Deshabhimani, marking his first public appearance since the official announcement of his candidacy.
Swaraj emphasised that the upcoming election is not a contest between individuals but a battle against anti- Left forces. According to him, the widespread support for another LDF government reflects the public’s endorsement of the administration’s developmental initiatives and welfare schemes. He expressed confidence that the Nilambur constituency would exemplify this popular sentiment.
“I am proud to have been entrusted with the responsibility of contributing to the continued governance of the LDF,” he said, adding that this election holds heightened political significance. “The central issue in this election is the future of Kerala.”
He also highlighted the critical role of Deshabhimani in this political process, describing it as a media voice for the marginalised, including the common people, farmers, Dalits, and women, and a platform that amplifies the struggles of those often pushed to the periphery of mainstream discourse. Swaraj noted that Deshabhimani was the first to host a reception in his honor following the announcement of his candidacy.
The reception was held at the Deshabhimani office in Thiruvananthapuram and was attended by General Manager K J Thomas, Chief Editor Puthalath Dineshan, Chief News Editor T Chandramohan, Unit Manager I Safe, and staff members of the publication.
