Kerala Sets National Benchmark in Governance Accountability; LDF Government Tables Comprehensive Progress Report of Past Decade

Thiruvananthapuram: Keralam has once again demonstrated a model of democratic accountability rarely seen elsewhere in the country, with the LDF government presenting a detailed progress report on its 2021 election promises ahead of polling day for 2026 Assembly elections. The report provides a point-by-point account of the status of each scheme and the extent to which manifesto commitments have been honoured.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated at a press conference that 97 percent of the 900 promises made in the 2021 LDF election manifesto have either been fully implemented or have had effective measures put in place for their realisation. The government has followed this practice of publishing an annual progress report every year for the past nine years — a tradition the Chief Minister described as a new benchmark not just for Keralam but for the country as a whole.

The report reflects a governance approach that has accorded equal importance to infrastructure development and social welfare, with the Chief Minister stating that the government takes pride in having delivered a comprehensive development vision that touches every sector of public life. The overarching goal, he said, has been the creation of a Nava Keralam — a renewed and transformed Keralam — through a holistic and inclusive approach to governance.

The annual accountability exercise, sustained consistently across the government's tenure, has come to be regarded as a defining feature of LDF governance, setting a standard of transparency that distinguishes Keralam's political culture on the national stage.
