Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC has honoured woman conductor B.S. Suma for her honesty and presence of mind in finding and returning a gold locket lost by a passenger during a bus journey on the Manchavilakom–Karakonam route via Neyyattinkara.
R L Athira, a resident of Pazhayakada Kulattur, had lost the gold locket from her wedding chain — valued at around half a sovereign — during the journey. Despite searching for it, she could not find it. On a subsequent trip, conductor Suma spotted the locket wedged between seats. She immediately enquired with the passengers on board whether anyone had lost a locket, and on finding that no one had, reported the matter to the Neyyattinkara Station Master.
By the time Suma returned to the depot after completing her trip, Athira and her husband had already arrived there to inquire about the missing locket. After verifying that it belonged to Athira, the locket was formally returned to her on the instructions of ATO K.G. Saiju, with ATO Saiju, conductor Suma, driver Pradeepkumar, General Controlling Inspector P. Vinodkumar, Station Masters Baiju and Barisha Beevi all present for the handover.
KSRTC formally honoured both Suma and driver Pradeepkumar, commending their conduct as exemplary and a credit to the organisation
