Major Fire Breaks Out at K R Narayanan National Film Institute in Kottayam

Kottayam: A major fire broke out at the K R Narayanan National Film Institute in Kottayam on Monday evening. Around 7:30 pm, people noticed smoke rising from the shooting floor, following which the Fire and Rescue Services were immediately informed. Fire force personnel from the Pampady Fire Station rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
The shooting floor was set up inside a large hall constructed using special sheet material. For filming purposes, temporary sets such as buildings, houses, and roads had been created using various types of cardboard, and it was these structures that caught fire.
The fire was initially doused by the fire force, after which it was completely extinguished using fire extinguishers available inside the building. The incident is estimated to have caused damage worth several lakhs of rupees.
