Nearly 500 Illegal Air Horns Destroyed by MVD in Kochi

Kochi: Around 500 air horns illegally installed in vehicles were destroyed using road rollers in Kochi on Monday, officials from the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) said.
The air horns were seized during a special enforcement drive launched on the direction of Transport Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar. The week-long inspection targeted vehicles using banned air horns in various parts of the district.
Officials said about 500 vehicles, including inter-state buses and trucks, were intercepted during the operation. The confiscated air horns were later crushed at Kammattipadam as part of the campaign against their use.
The drive was ordered after the minister witnessed a bus driver using an air horn during a public function in Kothamangalam earlier this month.
MVD officials added that similar inspections are being carried out across other districts in Kerala and that the checks will continue in the coming days.
