Thiruvananthapuram: A new video released by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) highlights the major infrastructure initiatives that have significantly altered Kerala’s development trajectory. The visual presentation showcases projects across multiple sectors, including roads, bridges, information technology, education, healthcare, and drinking water supply, underscoring KIIFB’s role in strengthening the state’s infrastructure base.

As an innovative and bold initiative in Kerala’s development history, KIIFB has enabled the execution of projects that might otherwise have taken 25 to 50 years to materialize through conventional funding routes. Over the past nine and a half years, KIIFB has approved 1,237 projects with a total outlay of Rs 98,836.83 crore. The process of granting final approval to projects that earlier received in-principle clearance is currently underway.

According to official figures, KIIFB has set a target portfolio of projects worth approximately Rs 1,10,000 crore, of which projects valued at Rs 25,000 crore have already been realized.

KIIFB was established on November 11, 1999, under the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Act, 1999. After the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government assumed office in 2016, the institution was strengthened through amendments to the Act, expanding its mandate and operational capacity. Funds for KIIFB projects are mobilized through innovative financing mechanisms approved by the Reserve Bank of India and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), along with unique resource mobilization strategies adopted by the board. In addition, the state government allocates a portion of its annual revenue as a dedicated share to KIIFB.
