Kerala Has Zero Tolerance for Communalism, Says CM Pinarayi Vijayan at Loka Kerala Sabha

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the Kerala government maintains a strong stance against communalism, and communal forces cannot assert themselves in the state. He was speaking at the Loka Kerala Sabha. Kerala remembers the history marked by the lives lost in communal riots and homes looted during such unrest, he noted.

However, the absence of such incidents in the past ten years is not because communal forces have left the state, but because they know that any attempt to spread hatred will be met with strict action. People in Kerala are free to wear what they like and eat what they choose, and the state’s peaceful, conflict-free atmosphere has made it widely admired, he said.

The Chief Minister pointed out that even foreign investors acknowledge that Kerala is one of the few places where peace prevails. Today, Kerala ranks first among investment-friendly states in India. This progress has occurred in areas where industrial development was once considered impossible. Investors worldwide now look at Kerala with confidence, and the industrial growth achieved is expected to generate more employment opportunities in the coming years.

Vijayan added that the government aims to equip Kerala’s youth to compete with candidates from developed countries in the global job market. He recalled a time when, even after the new academic year began, teachers had to photocopy textbooks for students due to lack of supplies. Today, textbooks for the next year reach students as soon as schools close, he said. The quality of public schools has improved significantly, attracting students even from abroad for higher studies. The government’s interventions in higher education are already showing tangible results, the Chief Minister concluded.
