Kerala to Launch First Industrial Park Exclusively for Women Entrepreneurs

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government is set to establish Kerala’s first industrial park exclusively for women entrepreneurs. The project aims to support women-led enterprises and help them scale up to the next level of growth, Minister for Industries P. Rajeev said.
The minister noted that women entrepreneurs are now coming forward in greater numbers compared to previous years. As part of the government’s ‘Year of Entrepreneurship’ initiative, 31 percent of the newly registered entrepreneurs in the state are women. To further encourage women’s participation in business, the government has made key amendments to existing regulations.
Under the revised rules, women will now be allowed to start enterprises in up to 50 percent of residential houses in panchayat areas. Businesses can also be set up in vacant residential buildings without restriction. The government will ensure the required skill development training for women entering the sector.
The Industries Department will provide financial assistance to women entrepreneurs to participate in international trade fairs and exhibitions, enabling them to promote their products globally. The minister also said that steps are being taken to help women make better use of e-commerce platforms and strengthen their presence in online markets.
