Kerala University Question Paper Controversy: Answer Printed Alongside Question in Statistics Exam

Thiruvananthapuram: A serious error has come to light in the question paper for the second semester BSc Statistics examination of Kerala University, with complaints that the answer to the fifth question was printed alongside the question itself. Students and teachers noticed the irregularity only after receiving the question paper in the examination hall.
The Examination Controller has sought an urgent explanation from the Board of Examinations. However, the Board of Studies authorities maintain that no lapse occurred on their part. "The disputed portion was included in the question paper as a subsidiary question and cannot be interpreted as an answer," the Board of Studies chairperson clarified.
The Examination Controller will forward the report — including the explanation given by the Board of Studies — to the Vice Chancellor for further action. Student organisations and candidates have alleged serious negligence on the part of the Examinations Board both in preparing and vetting the question paper.
