Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has once again achieved the Top Achiever position in the national Ease of Doing Business rankings for 2024. The news was shared by Industries Minister P Rajeev, who made a congratulatory phone call from Delhi to Local Self-Government Minister M B Rajesh.

The call, filled with happiness and pride, was aimed at sharing the good news and appreciating the Local Self-Government Department’s crucial contribution to Kerala’s industry-friendly governance model. Minister Rajeev recalled that when Kerala first secured the Top Achiever title, he had similarly called to thank the department for its reform-driven efforts that boosted the state’s ranking.

Minister Rajeev highlighted that the K-SMART digital platform, which provides online local governance services, played a central role in achieving this success. The system has transformed service delivery, simplified licensing and approval processes, and made it easier for entrepreneurs and investors to start and expand businesses in Kerala.

He also pointed out that the revolutionary amendments made this year to licensing regulations and building rules will be considered in the next evaluation cycle, which could further improve Kerala’s standing in the upcoming rankings.

Minister M B Rajesh, in a social media post, said that the repeated recognition reflects the strength of Kerala’s governance model under Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He noted that the efficient coordination between departments and the government’s unified approach have been key to the state’s consistent progress across various sectors.

Both ministers observed that Kerala’s continued performance as a Top Achiever demonstrates the impact of digital transformation, administrative transparency, and policy reforms focused on ease of business without compromising public accountability.

The renewed ranking, they said, reaffirms Kerala’s position as one of India’s most progressive and efficiently governed states, setting a strong example of how technology-driven governance and coordinated leadership can translate into tangible results for development and investment.
