Kerala Story 2 A Planned Move to Malign State, Says Minister V Sivankutty

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala General Education Minister V Sivankutty said that Kerala Story 2 is a planned attempt to insult Kerala and spread misconceptions about the state among people in other parts of the country.

Speaking during a media programme, the minister said the trailer of the film clearly aims to create communal divisions. He said any attempt to insult minority communities in Kerala would not be accepted and added that the film tries to present a distorted image of the state.

He said there were deliberate efforts to malign Kerala and added that those behind the film were unwilling to show the state’s real social reality. Pointing to Kerala’s social environment, he said the state has remained peaceful without communal clashes over the past ten years.

The minister also spoke about the political situation in Thiruvananthapuram district, saying the LDF expects to win all seats in the district, including Kovalam, in the upcoming Assembly election. He said the Left Front has strong candidates for the Thiruvananthapuram Central constituency and claimed that other fronts were struggling to finalise their candidates.

On the issue of reservation-based appointments for differently-abled persons in aided schools, the minister said the government had no political intention in the matter. He explained that the NSS management had approached the Supreme Court after a High Court verdict and obtained a favourable order.

He added that the government had attempted to make the judgment applicable to all managements and said Christian church managements had not approached the court on the issue.
