Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister V Sivankutty has announced that the SSLC examination results for this year will be declared on May 8. Along with this, the results of THSLC, THSLC (Hearing Impaired), and SSLC (Hearing Impaired) will also be announced on the same day. Last year, the SSLC results were published on May 9.

Addressing a press conference, the minister said that as part of efforts to ensure quality in the state’s public education sector, the government has implemented subject-wise minimum marks for Classes 5 to 9 this year. Students who fail to secure at least 30 per cent marks in any subject will be provided with special academic support, he said. The initiative has been envisaged as a continuous process.

On reviewing the results of the second-term examinations, the minister noted the need to improve the learning levels of students who received an ‘E’ grade in all subjects. According to the data, 2,187 students in Class 5, 2,451 students in Class 6, and 2,143 students in Class 7 obtained an ‘E’ grade in all subjects.

The numbers increase in higher classes, he said. In Class 8, as many as 14,418 students, and in Class 9, 6,153 students, are on the ‘E’ grade list. The Education Department aims to provide special attention to these students and help them improve to a better academic standard, the minister added.
