Fresh Shigella Case Confirmed in Kollam

Thiruvananthapuram: One more Shigella case has been confirmed in the state, this time in Kollam district. In total, 191 people have contracted the disease in June, with six deaths reported during the month. So far this year, 267 Shigella cases have been confirmed across the state.

Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad recorded the highest number of cases in June. Outbreaks currently stand declared in four districts — Kozhikode (65), Wayanad (26), Thrissur (13) and Alappuzha (5). Cases were also reported in June from Malappuram (30), Thiruvananthapuram (18), Kannur (11), Kollam (13), Idukki (3), Ernakulam (4) and Palakkad (3).
