Thiruvananthapuram: Two executive committee members of the Kerala Secretariat Employees Association have been transferred outside the district on deputation, days after the association's general secretary and Public Administration Department Under Secretary S S Deepu was transferred out of the Secretariat.

Association executive committee members K S Prasanth and G Sivakumar have been transferred to departments outside Thiruvananthapuram district. The moves have triggered allegations of rule violations.

Prasanth, a Section Officer in the Labour and Skills section at the Secretariat, has been appointed as Accounts Officer at the Regional Project Management Unit of Jalanidhi in Kannur district. Sivakumar, a Section Officer in the Administrative Reforms Department, has been transferred to Jalanidhi in Idukki district.

Senior officials are not normally transferred from the Secretariat on deputation without their consent, particularly to posts outside the district.

Protest against transfer

Employees staged a protest against the alleged violation of rules in transferring S S Deepu, general secretary of the Kerala Secretariat Employees Association and Under Secretary in the Public Administration Department, out of the Secretariat.

The protest march began from the Secretariat canteen premises, with employees demanding cancellation of the transfer order. CPI(M) state secretariat member M V Jayarajan inaugurated the march in front of the Secretariat. Association president Jisha Jasmine presided over the programme, while S S Deepu addressed the gathering.
