44.30 crore sanctioned for advanced facilities; New Cath Labs for three medical colleges

Thiruvananthapuram: New Cath Labs will be established at the Government Medical Colleges in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode. Health Minister Veena George announced that administrative sanction has been granted for a total of 44.30 crore rupees for this purpose. The sanctioned amounts are 14.31 crore for Alappuzha, 14.99 crore for Ernakulam, and 15 crore for Kozhikode.

The government is giving great importance to modern cardiac treatment. In addition to the major medical colleges, the Health Department has already set up Cath Labs in 12 hospitals across the state. Once a Cath Lab is established in Idukki as well, Kerala will become a state with Cath Lab facilities in every district, the Minister stated in a press release.


The sanctioned funds will be used for setting up facilities such as a Cath Lab, a 20-bed post-Cath ICU, TMT machine, temporary pacemaker, 5 ventilators, 20 ICU beds, echo machine, anaesthesia workstation, portable echo machine, advanced Cath Lab system, cardiac 3D mapping system, emergency trauma cot, and various other medical equipment.
