Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister K N Balagopal has announced that the deadline for social security pension beneficiaries to submit their income certificates has been extended by six months. Departments have been instructed not to suspend pensions for those who fail to submit the certificates within this extended period.

Earlier, the government had instructed in May 2025 that beneficiaries included in the welfare pension list who had not submitted an income certificate even once must do so. The original deadline for submission was 31st December 2025.

Out of over 62 lakh welfare pension beneficiaries, only 2.53 lakh have not submitted an income certificate even once. This applies to those selected as pension beneficiaries up to 31st December 2019.

With the extension, these beneficiaries now have an additional six months to submit their income certificates. Certificates can be uploaded through Akshaya centers by 30th June.
