Draw for local body ward reservation to begin on October 13

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Election Commission has announced that the draw of lots to finalise ward reservations in local self -government institutions will be held from October 13 onwards, ahead of the upcoming local body elections.

District Collectors have been appointed as the District Election Officers to oversee the process in grama, block, and district panchayats. For municipal councils, the responsibility has been assigned to the District Joint Directors of the Local Self- Government Department, while the Urban Director will supervise the procedure in municipal corporations. The official notification has been published on the Commission’s website (www.sec.kerala.gov.in, http://www.sec.kerala.gov.in).

The draw for the 941 grama panchayats will be conducted between October 13 and 16. In Kannur, the event will take place at the Collectorate auditorium, and in other districts, in the respective collectorate conference halls. All sessions will begin at 10 am.

For the 152 block panchayats, the draw is scheduled for October 18 at 10 am at the same venues.

The reservation draw for the 14 district panchayats will be held on October 21 at 10 am in the collectorate conference halls.

As for the municipal corporations, the draw for Thiruvananthapuram will be held at 10 am on October 17 at Swaraj Bhavan, while the draw for Kollam will take place the same day at 2 pm.

On October 18, the Kochi Municipal Corporation’s draw will be held at 10 am at the Town Hall, followed by the Thrissur Corporation’s at 11.30 am.

The Kozhikode Corporation’s draw is scheduled for October 21 at 10 am at the Mananchira Town Hall, and Kannur’s will follow at 11.30 am.

For the 86 municipal councils, excluding Mattannur, the draw for ward reservation will be conducted at 10 a.m. on October 16 at venues specified in each district.
