Local Body Byelections in 38 Wards to Be Held on Monday

Thiruvananthapuram: Byelections to 38 local self-government wards in Keralam will be held on Monday. The public campaigning ended on Saturday evening. A total of 126 candidates are contesting in 38 wards across 12 districts, excluding Kollam and Alappuzha. Counting of votes will be held on Tuesday.

Byelections are being held in eight wards after the ward members resigned upon being elected as members of the Legislative Assembly.

State Election Commissioner N Seshadrinathan said all arrangements for the counting of votes have been completed. Polling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm on Monday.

A total of 385 polling stations have been set up. Training for polling officials has also been completed.
