Yellow Alert Issued for Neyyar River as Heavy Rain Continues in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rainfall persists across several districts in Kerala, prompting fresh warnings from authorities. The Central Water Commission has declared a Yellow Alert for the Neyyar River at Aruvippuram Station in Thiruvananthapuram, as the water level continues to remain at adangerous range.
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has urged people living along the riverbanks to remain vigilant. Residents have been strictly advised not to enter or cross rivers under any circumstances. Those living close to the river should stay alert and be prepared to relocate from flood-prone areas if instructed by authorities.
With Orange Alerts issued for Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam, SDMA announced that warning sirens under the KaWaCHaM alert system will sound at 4 PM today in both districts as part of precautionary measures.
Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts remain under Yellow Alert, with forecasts indicating the possibility of isolated very heavy rainfall.
