Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has forecast isolated heavy rainfall across Kerala over the next five days, with Yellow Alerts declared for several districts on specific dates.

Yellow Alerts have been issued as follows: Kannur and Kasaragod on April 30; Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Wayanad on May 1; and Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Ernakulam on May 2.

Heavy rainfall, as defined by the IMD, refers to precipitation of between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period. The public in the alerted districts is advised to remain vigilant, particularly given the risk of lightning and strong winds that have been accompanying the pre-monsoon showers forecast across the state this week.
