Heavy Rain to Continue in Keralam; Orange Alert Issued in 12 Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heavy rain is likely to continue across Keralam in the coming days. An orange alert has been issued in 12 districts, excluding Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.
District collectors have declared a holiday for educational institutions in Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta.
All educational institutions, including professional colleges, will remain closed on Wednesday in Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Kasaragod, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Wayanad districts. In Kozhikode, the holiday will apply to all educational institutions except professional colleges.
The University of Kerala has postponed all examinations scheduled for Wednesday. Authorities said revised examination dates would be announced later.
The death toll from monsoon-related disasters in the state has risen to 25. A total of 52 houses have been completely destroyed, while 565 houses have suffered partial damage.
The IMD has urged people living along riverbanks and near dams, as well as those residing in hilly regions, to remain extremely vigilant due to the continued threat of landslides and flooding.
