Thiruvananthapuram: As part of the Kerala Legislature International Book Festival (KLIBF), a poster expressing solidarity with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and the people of Venezuela was installed in front of the Kerala Legislative Assembly in Thiruvananthapuram. The display reflects the Kerala government’s firm political position against imperialism and in support of Venezuelan sovereignty.

The poster condemns what it describes as the illegal kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife by the United States and asserts solidarity with Venezuela in its resistance to imperialist intervention. Images of the poster have circulated widely on social media and were shared by author and political commentator Vijay Prashad, drawing national attention.

Kerala Chief Minister, CPI M General Secretary, and other left activists have strongly condemned the actions of the United States, describing them as an assault on the sovereignty of an independent nation. The leadership has reiterated Kerala’s consistent stance of opposing imperialist aggression and standing with nations subjected to external intervention. Expressions of solidarity, including public demonstrations and political statements, have followed across the state, reaffirming support for Venezuela and its elected leadership. The poster at KLIBF stands as a clear political message from Kerala, using a cultural platform to assert international solidarity and resistance to imperialism.
