Kerala's Overall Voter Turnout Stands at 79.63%, Says Chief Electoral Officer; Final Numbers to be Released on Counting Day

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Electoral Officer Rattan U Khelkar has announced that the overall voter turnout in the Keralam Assembly election, excluding service votes but including all postal votes, stands at 79.63 per cent.

Khelkar clarified that booth-level polling accounted for 78.27 per cent of the total electorate of 2,71,42,952 voters. When the 3,68,193 postal votes cast by senior citizens, differently abled individuals, essential service workers, and election duty personnel are added to this figure, the cumulative turnout rises to 79.63 per cent.

The CEO reiterated that the final figures, including service votes, will be released only after counting is completed. He also dismissed suggestions of any delay in releasing turnout data, stating that compiling the postal vote figures had taken no more than three days.

Total postal votes: 3,68,193

Senior Citizens:1,40,219(1,45,604 in total)

Differently-abled individuals: 60,734 (62,159)

Essential Services: 32,172 (34,140)

Election Duty Personnel: 1,35,068

An additional 53,984 service votes are still awaited and will be incorporated into the final turnout figures on counting day.
