Kerala Government Announces Double Welfare Pension as Onam Gift to 62 Lakh Beneficiaries

Thiruvananthapuram: Ahead of the harvesting festival Onam the Kerala State Government to gift two instalments of welfare pension will be given to social security and welfare fund pension beneficiaries.
Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal announced that Rs. 1,679 crore has been sanctioned for this purpose. Around 62 lakh people will receive Rs. 3,200 each for Onam. Along with the pension for August, one additional instalment has also been sanctioned. This move aims to provide financial support to pensioners during the festival season.
The beneficiaries will start receiving the amount from Saturday. The pension will be credited to the bank accounts of 26.62 lakh people. The rest will receive their pension delivered to their homes through cooperative banks. For 8.46 lakh people under the National Pension Scheme, the union government is responsible for providing the union share. The state government has sanctioned Rs. 48.42 crore in advance for this. This amount is to be credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Union Government's PFMS (Public Financial Management System).
