Cabinet Approves Rs 1,016.24 Crore Loan for Kochi Metro Phase II from Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

Thiruvananthapuram: The Cabinet has approved a loan of Rs 1,016.24 crore from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for the second phase of the Kochi Metro Rail project, connecting JLN Stadium to Infopark via Kakkanad. Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has been authorised to sign the loan and project agreements with AIIB.

Relief Fund Assistance

Rs 5 lakh has been allocated to the family of Nisha S. Sharma, who died after a tree branch fell on her at Kachani High School Junction, Thiruvananthapuram.

Rs 5 lakh has been granted to Sandhyamol Biju, a resident of Adimaly, who lost his left leg in a landslide on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway.

Stamp Duty Reliefs

Mahatmaji Charitable Trust, Pinarayi, will receive relief on stamp duty for property registration for a new stadium.

Transfer of 33.5 acres of Traco Cable Company land in Thiruvankulam to Infoparks Kerala: relief of Rs 21.47 crore in stamp duty and registration fees.

Transfer of 4.05 acres in Kalady Panchayat to SNDP Club Library and Reading Room: relief of Rs 1.44 lakh.

Transfer of 79 × 50 sq.m. land in Thrikadavoor, Kollam to Quilon Poor Home: relief of Rs 22.78 lakh.

Government Guarantees and Land Transfers

Additional government guarantee of Rs 50 crore granted to Kerala State Disability Welfare Corporation for an 8-year loan from the National Divyangjan Finance Development Corporation.

16 acres (6.4749 hectares) of land in Kallikkad, Kattakada, will be transferred to the Dairy Development Department for constructing a building for the Dairy Science College and cultivating grass for dairy purposes.

Compensation and Lease Approvals

Rs 19 lakh to be paid as compensation for 19 fishing nets removed for the construction of the Vaduthala–Perumbalam bridge.

Land to be leased to Kerala Water Authority for a drinking water project in Veliyambra, Kannur, for 30 years at Rs 100.

Approved Tenders for Infrastructure Projects

• Kappad seawall construction and reform (Koyilandy, Kozhikode): Rs 6.51 crore.

• Flood control work in Kanchikal paddy fields, Ramankari Panchayat, Kuttanad: Rs 1.72 crore.

• Kollam District road upgradation (BM & BC) and other civil works: Rs 3.27 crore and Rs 2.16 crore.

• JJM Water Supply Project (Ala, Puliyoor, Budhanoor, Pandanad, Mulakkuzha, Venmony Panchayaths, and Chengannur Municipality): Rs 33.97 crore for pipeline and OHSR works.

• Improvements to Kanjiramkuzhi–Perinad Railway Station Road, Kollam: Rs 1.53 crore.

• Cluster-1 PWD Roads (North Paravur, Ernakulam, 8.35 km): Rs 73.63 lakh.
