Kerala Budget 2026–27: Finance Minister Announces 69 Supplementary Proposals Focusing on Welfare and Jobs

Thiruvananthapuram: Along with the 2026–27 State Budget presented by the LDF government, additional announcements focusing on public welfare and development were also unveiled. Finance Minister K N Balagopal announced 69 supplementary proposals, aimed at strengthening social security, employment and inclusive growth.

Key popular announcements include a salary hike for contract and daily wage workers, establishment of employment centres in Scheduled Caste colonies, and salary increases for pre-primary teachers and ayahs.

Supplementary Budget Announcements

5% salary increase for contract employees and daily wage workers in the state.

Vishwakarma pension increased from 1,600 rupees to 2,000 rupees.

Monthly salary hike of 500 rupees for pre-primary ayahs, in addition to the 1,000 rupees hike already announced for teachers.

30 crore rupees allocated under the KARE project for providing medicine for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
