Kerala Legislative Assembly International Book Festival 2026: Local Culinary Delights Take Center Stage Alongside Literature

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Legislative Assembly International Book Festival is offering not just a feast for the mind but also a spring of flavors, with a variety of food stalls adding to the experience for visitors. At the food court, local specialties from Attappady—such as the famed Wanasundari chicken, Urukappi, and Mulayari payasam—are among the main attractions for food lovers. In addition, combo dishes like Pazhampori with beef, Palappam with duck mappas, Butter chicken curry, and Pidi with chicken curry, along with Thalassery Dum Biryani and Malappuram Kalyana Biryani, are also available at the stalls.
Specialty dishes prepared by Kudumbashree units are a major highlight of this year’s festival. Units from Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram have brought their culinary delights. For payasam lovers, the Kudumbashree unit from Ernakulam is serving Panchanakshathra Payasam and Semiya Fruits Payasam, adding sweetness to the festival.
‘Mausi’s’ stall is also active at the festival, offering a variety of avil milk-based products, including sugar-free options. To quench thirst, a range of sugarcane juices is on offer, and children can enjoy crispy potato twisters in different flavors. In total, 15 food stalls have been set up in the festival city, and visitors flocking for books are also heading to the food court in large numbers.
