Kerala to inaugurate 32 new school buildings, over 4,000 crore rupees invested in public education

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to inaugurate 32 newly constructed school buildings on February 10, all developed with the help of KIIFB, marking a historic advancement in the state’s public education sector. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to providing quality education for all, with school infrastructure development recognised as a key priority.

With financial assistance from KIIFB, 373 schools across the state have received modern infrastructure upgrades. Approximately 3,000 crore rupees were spent on building construction and 1,000 crore rupees on high-tech classrooms, bringing the total KIIFB investment in public education to over 4,000 crore rupees. The schools were categorised based on funding, with some receiving 5 crore rupees, others 3.9 crore rupees, and a third group 1.35 crore rupees each for development.

In addition to KIIFB support, Plan Funds, NABARD Funds, MLA Local Area Development Funds, and Local Self-Government Development Funds were integrated to enable extensive development. Over the past decade, more than 5,000 crore rupees have been invested in school construction through these combined sources.

Out of the planned projects, 329 school buildings have already been completed and handed over to the state in stages. The inauguration of the remaining 32 KIIFB-supported school buildings will take place on February 10, 2026, with elaborate functions. These developments underline the government’s commitment to elevating Kerala’s public education system to global standards and improving the quality of learning through upgraded infrastructure.
