Thiruvananthapuram: Police have traced the woman who was subjected to sexual assault inside the KSRTC bus stand in Kattakkada. The woman, who is believed to be mentally challenged, was found near the bus stand premises and has since been shifted to a shelter home for protection and care.

Authorities said the woman will undergo a medical examination today, after which her statement will be officially recorded and further legal steps initiated. Police have not yet formally registered a case in connection with the incident.

The matter came to light after officials noticed that the woman, who had reportedly been seen around the KSRTC stand for several days, had suddenly gone missing. Depot authorities then reviewed CCTV footage from the bus stand, which allegedly revealed the assault. Police action began following a complaint filed by depot officials.

According to preliminary findings, the accused has been identified as Brucelee Shibu, a native of Panniyode. Police have intensified efforts to locate and arrest him. Investigators say the suspect was identified through CCTV footage analysis and have expressed confidence that he will be taken into custody soon.
