Kannur: In the case related to the death of first-year BDS student R L Nithin Raj at a private dental college in Ancharakandi, the court has denied anticipatory bail to the first accused, Dr. M K Ram. The Thalassery Additional District Sessions Court rejected the plea after accepting the prosecution’s arguments.

However, anticipatory bail was granted to the second accused, Dr. K T Sangeetha Nambiar, who is also booked in the abetment to suicide case.

According to the prosecution, Nithin Raj had been subjected to continuous harassment. It was alleged that from March 13 onwards, the first and second accused repeatedly humiliated and mistreated him.

On the day of the incident, the presence of Dr. Ram in the staff room and the principal’s office between 12.30 pm and 2 pm was described as suspicious. The prosecution presented CCTV footage showing his movements, along with audio and WhatsApp messages sent by Nithin Raj to his sister.

It was also alleged that Dr. Ram made inappropriate remarks when the student was brought to the casualty ward, further strengthening the prosecution’s case.
