Thiruvananthapuram: Kandararu Rajeevaru, the Tantri arrested in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case, has been admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. He has been admitted to a cell ward at the medical college.

An angiogram has been scheduled for tomorrow. Rajeevar had earlier complained of chest pain while in jail, following which doctors recommended the angiogram. After the procedure, he will be kept under observation until evening and is expected to be shifted back to Poojappura Central Jail thereafter.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had recorded the arrest of Kandararu Rajeevaru on January 9 in connection with the case involving the smuggling of gold from Sabarimala. According to the SIT’s findings, the Tantri had aided in removing the temple’s gold plates and was involved in the conspiracy by giving consent to the fraud.

He has been charged with criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, fabrication of documents, and misappropriation and misuse of public property.
