K. Jayakumar Appointed President of Travancore Devaswom Board

Thiruvananthapuram: Former Chief Secretary K. Jayakumar has been appointed as the President of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB). A gazette notification issued on Monday stated, "The Council of Ministers has nominated K. Jayakumar, retired IAS officer, as the president of the board from November 14." He will serve a two-year term starting November 14, 2025. The term of the outgoing TDB president, P. S. Prasanth, will expire on November 13.
Jayakumar currently serves as the Director of the Institute of Management in Government (IMG) and has a distinguished career as a former IAS officer, poet, lyricist, translator, painter, and scriptwriter.
During his government service, he also served as Devaswom Special Commissioner at Sabarimala for a year. After retiring as Kerala Chief Secretary, he was appointed the founding Vice-Chancellor of Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Jayakumar said his immediate priority would be to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Sabarimala pilgrimage season. He assured that darshan facilities would be available to ordinary devotees without any hindrance and that necessary reforms would be collectively decided and implemented.
